South Orange County’s newest master plan community, Rancho Mission Viejo, located within the rolling hillsides neighboring San Juan Capistrano (near Ortega Highway and Antonio Parkway). If you haven’t heard about it, I don’t blame you- especially if your home search criteria centers around beach cities. However, the homes are beautifully constructed and the neighborhoods are so thoughtfully laid out that the 15 minute drive to the beach is worth living in a brand-spanking new home.
The scenery leading to Rancho Mission Viejo doesn’t dissapoint. A citrus orchard flanks part of the drive into Escencia and from the Hilltop Club (one of many top-notch amenities offered), you can see a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. In fact, our new home is part of a 23,000 acre functioning ranch, farm, and habitat reserve owned by the O’Neill Family- a ranching family who acquired the land in 1882 and who, in recent times, have become the preimenent land developers of South Orange County. They’re responsible for creating the City of Mission Viejo, City of Rancho Santa Margarita, Las Flores and Ladera Ranch.
Needless to say, they have practice in thoughtfully planned communities and Rancho Mission Viejo truly has it all; carefully designed, energy efficient homes in all sizes ( starting in the $300,000- $1 Million, including 55+ neighborhoods) and lots and lots of amenities. Take a docent-led tour through the 17,000 acre Reserve, work-out in the open air gym, grab a beer at the Hilltop Club. The list goes on. No really, check it out, it will blow your mind!
